Dr. Karen Tormé Olson and her daughter-in-law Sanja Bazuli5 Olson have spent every summer and holiday since 2003 traveling Croatia as a writer-translator team to gather information for
Frommer’s Croatia. Karen is a photographer, freelance travel writer, and former
Chicago Tribune editor. She has a doctorate in administration, is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers, and holds a day job as a school counselor, fencing coach, and literary magazine advisor. She lives in a Chicago suburb with her husband, Randy Weissman, their son, Drew, and three large shelter dogs.
Sanja Bažulić Olson was born in Denmark but was reared and educated in Croatia, where she has lived for most of her life. She holds a master’s degree in agricultural engineering from Zagreb University, and since 2003 Sanja has lived in Uganda, Washington, D.C., Kabul, Afghanistan, and Pristina, Kosovo, with her husband, Greg, who works in micro development for the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID).
