Writer and filmmaker Peter Gidal's previously published works include "Materialist Film, Understanding Beckett: Monologue and Gesture, Warhol: Films and Paintings, " and "Gerhard Richter: The Polemics of Paint." An important experimental filmmaker, Gidal has had retrospectives at the London Film-Maker's Co-op; the Centre Pompidou, Paris; the National Film Theatre, London, as well as in Japan and San Francisco. He taught advanced film theory at the Royal College of Art, London, from 1971-1983.
