This list is correct, except that an adjourned session held at Rutland in February and March, 1797, is omitted. The laws of the first three sessions (March, June and October, 1778) are not known to be extant in print or manuscript. They were never recorded in the office of the Secretary of State. William Slade (Vermont State papers, p. 287,) says they were published in pamphlet form toward the close of the year 1778. Henry Stevens of Barnet, first President of the Vt. Historical Society, claimed that the Laws of 1778 were never printed, but that town clerks and particular officers had manuscript copies furnished them. Certainly a committee was appointed to get them printed; see Journal of the General Assembly for October 24, 1778, on p. 285 of Vermont State Papers.
