Juana de Aragon, to whom it is dedicated at the beginning, was dead before the printing was finished, 2 April, 1515. See opening of canto xxxiv. Navarrete, therefore, is wrong, following Giannone, in exhibiting her among the personages at the brilliant court of Charles V., at Naples, in the winter of 1535-6. FROM THE RECORDS OF THE CORPORATION.

MEETING OF APRIL 13, 1885. - Voted, that hereafter no fee be charged for a diploma out of course. A petition was received from the "Lawn Tennis Association" asking that their former petition may be withdrawn so far as it relates to turf courts on Jarvis Field, and that nine courts on Holmes Field may be allowed to them in the positions named in this petition; and it was Voted, to allow the association to lay out at its own expense the nine courts on Holmes Field as asked for in this petition.

A letter was received from Professor WILLIAM JAMES stating the need of better arrangements for the study of psychology, — and at his request it was Voted, that the room in the Scientific School lately used for the Physical laboratory be fitted up for a lecture room and that the small room adjoining be equipped with gas fixtures, tables, and wall cases, for the use of the department of psychology.

MEETING OF APRIL 27, 1885. — The Treasurer reported the annual gift from an anonymous friend of $500 to increase the salary of the Professor of Entomology.

Voted, to lend the "Lawn Tennis Association" not exceeding fifteen hundred dollars, at six per cent interest, for the laying out of clay courts during the coming summer, provided that the location of the courts and the manner of their construction shall be satisfactory to the Superintendent of Buildings. Voted, to appoint HAROLD NORTH FOWLER, A.B., Instructor in Greek for the year 1885-86. Voted, to appoint EDWARD CUMMINGS, A.B., Assistant in Rhetoric for the year 1885-86.

Voted, that until further action of this Board an examination for admission to College be conducted yearly in Europe, at some central point.

MEETING OF MAY 11, 1885. — Voted, that the gift of fifty dollars from the Dante Society for the purchase of books on Dante, in continuance of former gifts for the same purpose, be gratefully accepted, and that the Treasurer be requested to make suitable acknowledgment therefor.

Voted, to appoint MELLEN WOODMAN HASKELL, A.B., 1883, and HENRY THEODore Hildreth, to Parker Fellowships for the year 1885-86.

Voted, to proceed to the election of a Professor of Mathematics, whereupon ballots being given in, it appeared that CHARLES JOYCE WHITE, A.M., was elected.

Voted, to appoint LE BARON RUSSELL BRIGGS, A.M., Assistant Professor of English for five years from September 1, 1885.

Voted, to appoint ADOLPHE COHN, LL.B., A.M., Assistant Professor of French for five years from September 1, 1885.
