[Except for the slight defects mentioned above, a fine copy, measuring 127 in. by 8 in. This is presumably the copy described under No. 970 in Quaritch's "Catalogue of April, 1922, and remarkable in containing the first issue of the portrait, in which the moustache and the cross-hatching of the wide white collar are unfinished. There is a similar copy in the Bodleian, which belonged to Malone, and in America there is a copy of the title, taken from Halliwell's copy of the First Folio, and now separate from the book. These are the only copies of this issue of the portrait known. The discovery of the particular feature of the above-described copy was not made until after its sale.] Shakespeare (W.)
