haps no wonder, for it is of supreme interest to those who are at all interested in the Shakespeare-Bacon controversy. It attributes the authorship of Shakespeare's plays to Bacon, and precedes all other books of the kind by nearly a hundred years, the first book that throws any doubt on the Shakespearean authorship having hitherto been supposed to be Cox's "Romance Yachting," published in 1848. This, of course, raises a controversial point with which BOOK-PRICES CURRENT has nothing to do. It is merely one of many which those who have occasion to consult the following pages will be able, or not, to unravel for themselves.
