F. & Co.). 327 OUR customary half-yearly Educational Number, with which we present our readers this day, is, as usual, solid with the copious lists of familiar titles in this important department of literary production. As a glance at the list of exhibitors of educational works in the Great Exhibition would show, a publisher of educational books is no longer one of a class apart almost all our publishing houses of repute being issuers of some class of school, college, or examination books. Whatever complaints there may be, it is certain that no one can allege that there is any want of variety, either in character, form, or price, of the almost numberless works submitted to the choice of those who are engaged in the task of educating either the very young or the adult student. As usual, most houses have their specialté and distinctive character, or are known in connection with some renowned series, or course of instruction. Novelties are, of course, not numerous, if we except the new and improved editions of old favourites which are always appearing.
