Harold Caparn (1864-1945) has not been known because his archive was privately held and not open to research. It was made available to the author in 2005. It contains photos of his landscape work and plans, some of his letters and his client list. From it the author has selected for this publication some of Caparn’s 175 landscape works, his 120 published articles and 70 letters to The New York Times. His designs for outstanding gardens and estates are described and pictured.
